Unless you are a vegetarian this will scare the living daylights out of you. No more steak, burgers, meatballs, or pot roasts. What would be the source of such a problem? Could it be that the vegetarians finally got through to the government that animals aren’t food? Surely not. Could it be that prices are set to go so high that only the elite 1% will be able to enjoy beef? This could actually happen in the process but isn’t the cause of us losing our beef. When it comes to asking where’s the beef, you’ll be answered with one word. Gone! Cattle numbers in America according to Wiki are at about 9 million.
The average cow consumes 30 gallons of fresh, clean drinking water daily. Lactating cows consume twice that amount. That means on average cows consume 270 million gallons of drinking water daily. That’s 98,550,000,000 gallons of water a year on average. Combine that with the amount of water it takes to grow the grain cattle require and you have a devastating impact on humans water supply. the grain alone used to feed cows in America could feed 80 million people alone.
If we don’t change our dependency on beef not only will we hurt ourselves in the long run we’ll all die from dehydration! We need to look at cutting back on our meat consumption and try to change it up with other options. I’d rather eat meat 2 or 3 times a week than never again. Insects and tree bark work for some people and I could learn to eat it if I had to, but we still have the ability to save ourselves from this if we act now!
