The shocking truth is the very air that we breathe could be killing us. According to the World Health Organization between 2008 and 2013, the global urban pollution levels increased by 8%. Many people do not realize that over 80% of the world’s population live in areas where the air quality does not meet World Health Organization standards.
Air pollution has been linked to many different detrimental health conditions including cancer and asthma. Despite decades of warnings and efforts to protect the environment we have failed, and things continue to get worse. We can no longer continue to go on the way that we have been thus far.
These statistics and the fact that air pollution causes millions of premature deaths every year can no longer be ignored. We have to address this issue globally as soon as possible otherwise the planet we call home will no longer be habitable for future generations.
